My name is Richard “Rick” Conroy.  I am originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and served in United States Air Force after graduating from high school.  An Air Force ROTC scholarship helped me to attend the University of Hawaii.  After earning a Bachelor’s degree, I made our beautiful islands my permanent home and obtained a real estate license.

I learned about the time value of money in college and was eager to help people gain financial success by owning properties.  I also have experience in the mortgage loan business and in property management, eventually becoming the manager of the building where I lived.  I found a home with Andrews Advisory Associates, LLC in January 2023.   After learning about their philosophy and values, I knew this team was the right fit for me.  My lifelong goal of helping people to make sound financial decisions was achieved not only with real estate - but now in my new career.

I coach soccer for children under six years old during the season.  I also love supporting UH and local high school sports. I have two grandchildren and enjoy spending time with my family.  Recently, our work family started a running (and walking) club.  In the last year, other team members and I have finished two 10Ks, the Great Aloha Run, and the big one – the Hapalua half marathon!  What is next!?

Educational Background:

Bachelor of Business Administration, Management and Marketing, University of Hawaii at Manoa - Dean's List

Note:

Rick does not currently hold a real estate sales license in any state.

What started your career in financial services?

Since college, I have been interested in the future value of money with the power of compound returns.  I really wanted to help teach people about the critical subject most of us were never taught in school: personal finance.  I am motivated by the educational aspects of what we do.  A well-educated public can make better decisions on a personal level.  Hopefully, education will lead to smarter choices in the local community, government and the world as whole.

What is the one thing you wish people knew about money?

I wish people understood the “time value of money.”  Starting to earn, save and invest when you are younger will build exponential value through compounding investment returns. This simple concept can help everyone achieve financial opportunities they may not otherwise reach – simply by getting started early!  Starting with a small amount and being consistent will produce great rewards in the long run.

What do you look forward to in the future?

I look forward to being a valuable member of a team who is dedicated to helping educate people about money. In this modern age, the possibilities are endless for creating books, educational courses, YouTube videos and more to ensure that we provide the most value we can to help people get started on the path to financial independence and true wealth.  And of course, I look forward to our Running Club’s next race together as a team!
